The Section 1208 Authority provides support to foreign forces, irregular forces, groups, or individuals engaged in supporting or facilitating ongoing military operations by United States special operations forces to combat terrorism. Section 1208 of the FY 2005 NDAA authorized DOD to reimburse foreign forces, groups, or individuals supporting or facilitating ongoing counter-terrorism military operations by U.S. special operations forces (SOF). The FY 2009 NDAA authorized an increase to $35 million a year from the oiriginal $25 million for this authority. And after an additional increase in FY10, the FY15NDAA has now increased this account to $75 million per year. The FY 2017 NDAA authorized an increase in the annual cap on funding to $100 million.
